<Introducing the performers>
Syuto
Born and raised on Ishigaki Island, he moved to Tokyo after graduating high school to pursue further education.
After graduating, he returned to the island for work and, using the keyboard he had taught himself since high school, supported numerous musicians in live performances and arrangements alongside his job.
At the age of 30, in order to further deepen his understanding of the island's traditional culture, he sought out a master of classical folk music played on the sanshin (Okinawan three-stringed instrument), winning Yaeyama Classical Folk Song Newcomer Award and the Excellence Award the following year.
In his 40s, he moved to the United States and lived in San Francisco, spreading Okinawan culture through live sanshin performances and supporting koto music at events.
After returning to the island, he will continue his keyboard band and arranging activities while also taking on solo stages with the sanshin (Okinawan stringed instrument).
